Edward Said & The Question of Palestine at London’s Royal Festival Hall

Makan’s Director, Aimee Shalan, was honoured to be invited by the Palestine Festival of Literature and Fitzcarraldo Editions to MC a landmark event on 20 November at London’s Royal Festival Hall, celebrating Palestinian academic, literary critic, and political activist, Edward Said, one of the great public intellectuals of the twentieth century.
Marking the re-publication of Said’s classic text, The Question of Palestine, this unique event gathered eight key authors – Jehad Abusalim, Tamim Barghouti, Budour Hassan, Saree Makdisi, Max Porter, Jacqueline Rose, Wadie Said, Avi Shlaim and Ahdaf Soueif – to reflect on the enduring legacy of Said’s work and its role in the ongoing Palestinian struggle for liberation more than one year into Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza.
