DESCRIPTION:This Palestine Mini-Series offers a cohesive understanding of the Palestinian struggle through four 1-hour sessions taking place every other week. The series interweaves historical overview with an analysis of the framing of the Palestinian struggle. The aim is to empower you with the knowledge needed to not just know historical facts\, but to be able to effectively talk about and frame Palestine. You can attend all sessions for cumulative knowledge or select one(s) specific to your needs/interest. \nThe third session critically examines the apartheid framework in relation to the Palestinian context\, outlining its strategic uses and its limitations. DESCRIPTION:Makan Director\, Aimee Shalan\,  will be joining educators and organisers that are doing powerful work for justice\, locally\, nationally\, and globally–from resisting genocide to fighting for abolitionist futures. \nWe will discuss and learn from each other’s experiences about how the principles we hold dear help guide and shape our work for justice. \nSpeakers: \nWelcome: Nina Mehta is a community educator and co-director of PARCEO\, a community research\, resource\, and education center that partners with a range of groups and institutions to strengthen our collective work for justice. \nModerator: Morgan Bassichis is a writer and performer who has been a member of Jewish Voice for Peace-New York City since 2014. They co-edited the anti-zionist anthology Questions to Ask Before Your Bat Mitzvah\, published by Wendy’s Subway in 2023. \nUjju Aggarwal is an Assistant Professor at The New School. She brings a long history of working to build organizing for educational justice\, immigrants’ rights\, and abolition as well as projects at the intersection of arts and social justice\, popular education\, and adult literacy. \nNyle Fort is a minister\, organizer\, and scholar. He is currently an Assistant Professor of African American and African Diaspora Studies at Columbia University. \nDarakshan Raja is the founding director of Muslims for Just Futures (MJF) where she manages the organization’s overall development\, programming\, administration\, and strategic direction. She leads MJF’s national advocacy and movement-building efforts\, local Chicago power-building programming\, and DC Guaranteed Income Program. \nAimee Shalan is a British-Palestinian and Director of Makan\, a not for profit organisation providing transformative education to strengthen the movement for Palestinian liberation. \nLesley Williams is a longtime advocate for Palestinian rights and for anti racism in local and municipal government and services. \nRegister here.
